CLASSEN Group publishes Sustainability Report 2022/23: commitment to sustainable development becomes visible

August 05, 2024, Kaisersesch - The CLASSEN Group is pleased to announce the publication of its Sustainability Report for the years 2022/23. The report is a key tool to transparently present our commitment to sustainable development and our progress in the areas of environmental, social and governance (ESG).

With this report, the CLASSEN Group underlines its responsibility towards society and the environment. It provides a comprehensive insight into our sustainable initiatives and the specific measures we have taken over the past two years to achieve our environmental and social goals.

"Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us, but a core principle that guides our actions. By publishing this report, we are showing our stakeholders how seriously we take our responsibility. It serves not only to inform, but also to motivate us to continuously improve our sustainable approach," emphasizes Julie Quervel, Head of Accounting and Financial Accounting and part of the CLASSEN Group's sustainability team.

The report documents progress in key ESG areas, such as:

  1. Environment: Our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, the use of sustainable raw materials and the continuous optimization of our production processes to minimize our environmental impact.

Brandenburg's Minister of Economic Affairs visits Baruth/Mark to find out about planned energy project 

Bei seinem Besuch in Baruth/Mark besichtigte Brandenburgs Wirtschaftsminister Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Steinbach heute das Laminat- und Faserplattenwerk der Classen-Gruppe und informierte sich über die geplanten Maßnahmen zur Senkung des CO2-Ausstoßes. Das Werk will seinen Strombedarf künftig aus erneuerbaren Quellen decken. Dazu plant Classen zusammen mit der naturwind-Unternehmensgruppe den Bau eines Windparks.

Energy project in Baruth/Mark receives funding approval for heating network planning

Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, today handed over the funding decision for the heating network planning in Baruth and Mückendorf. The grant of EUR 631,761.50 from the federal funding for efficient heating networks (BEW, Module 1) is specifically earmarked for the planning costs of the heating network in Baruth and Mückendorf. The grant is an important milestone for the “Energy for Baruth” project.

Parliamentary State Secretary learns about pioneering energy project in Baruth/Mark

Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, visited Baruth/Mark yesterday to find out about the local energy supply concept for industry and residents of the Brandenburg municipality. Together with the Classen Group and other partners, the naturwind Group is planning to build a wind farm, a heating network and a hydrogen plant. The "Energy for Baruth" project pursues a decentralized and holistic approach. It aims to supply industry and residents regionally with electricity and heat. The wind power generated remains 100 percent in the region.
