Baruth, October 10, 2023 - On September 30, 2023, the fire department in the district of Teltow-Fläming carried out a successful operational exercise at the local industrial company Fiberboard GmbH, with the keyword "Hazardous Material-Large". Fiberboard GmbH, which is part of the CLASSEN Group and produces high-quality HDF/MDF for laminate flooring, together with its sister company CLASSEN Industries GmbH, forms the world's largest laminate flooring site with an impressive capacity of over 80 million square meters. These conditions provided ideal training conditions not only for the local fire department, but also for the hazardous materials unit of the Teltow-Fläming district, as well as the rescue service and aid organizations to train and prepare for extraordinary hazardous situations.
The preparation and organization of this important exercise was carried out by the fire and disaster protection department of the district of Teltow-Fläming in close coordination with Fiberboard GmbH, which thus provided a realistic training unit for the emergency forces. The exercise went smoothly and provided the participants with valuable experience and knowledge in order to be able to act in the best possible way in an emergency.
Both the employees of the district and the emergency forces of the fire department, rescue service and aid organizations were extremely satisfied with the preparation and support, which enabled them to train effectively and safely. Fiberboard GmbH, together with the adjacent laminate production (CLASSEN Industries GmbH), provided the perfect environment for this exercise.
"We learned a lot during this deployment exercise and are grateful for the opportunity to practice in a realistic scenario. This training strengthens our skills and confidence in our operational readiness," commented Silvio Kahle, district fire chief of the Teltow-Fläming district.
The collected experiences and findings on the part of both the fire department and the organizers will be evaluated in the coming week. This analysis will help to further improve the processes and responses and thus ensure the safety of the population in the district of Teltow-Fläming.
