International jury of experts rewards exceptionally high product quality
Cologne/Kaisersesch, May 9, 2023 - This year, for the first time, the CLASSEN Group will be taking part in Interzum, the world's leading trade fair for furniture production and interior design, in Cologne. The first good news reached the family-owned company from the Eifel region even before the start of the trade fair on May 9: the self-developed tile alternative CERAMIN® Tiles received the internationally renowned Interzum Award for its exceptionally high product quality. The prize is awarded by a renowned international jury of experts for exceptional products. In the end, CERAMIN® Tiles scored highly in all the assessment criteria - from product innovation to functionality, material quality and sustainability. Various companies took part in the competition with a total of 144 entries. On the eve of the opening of Interzum, 52 products from all over the world were honored at the awards ceremony.
"The start for our trade fair premiere in Cologne could not have been better," comments Céline Quervel, Head of Marketing at CLASSEN Group. "We are delighted that the jury of experts has honored our passionate commitment to this sustainable, easy-to-use product, designed with attention to detail, with the award." The plastic content of CERAMIN® Tiles already consists of more than 60 percent recycled materials in this alternative to wall and floor coverings made of natural stone. The comparatively low weight of the material also makes it very easy to process. Since the ultra-thin plastic tiles, which are made of the eponymous and pollutant-free material CERAMIN®, can even be installed on top of existing tiles, they have become very popular, particularly for renovations and refurbishments - whether carried out by the company itself or by specialist firms.
Challenging competition field at the interzum Award 2023
Seven respected experts from the fields of design, materials science and architecture have examined the products submitted for the interzum Award in terms of their design and technical quality as well as from the point of view of sustainability. The jurors included Vito Orazem, Managing Director of Red Dot and Executive Director of the Designzentrum NRW, and Hon. Prof. Dr. Sascha Peters, author of numerous specialist books on sustainable materials and one of the leading materials experts and trend scouts for new technologies. In its overall verdict, the jury emphasized that the high quality standard of the competition entries confirmed the potential of the industry and the importance of design as an economic factor. This makes the interzum Award for CLASSEN in this demanding competition all the more prestigious. The award was presented at the Congress Centrum of Koelnmesse.
The criteria of the award: Made for CERAMIN® Tiles
The evaluation criteria of the jury at the interzum Award read like the list of requirements of the product developers and designers of the CLASSEN Group. As a technology leader in the flooring industry, the CLASSEN Group holds a large number of different patents, some of which are made available to the entire industry in the form of licenses. This also applies to the innovative material CERAMIN® and the backing boards. In combination with the extraordinary product properties, CERAMIN® Tiles have an extremely high degree of innovation. The ease of handling and installation, the light weight and the simple processing by a plain cutter guarantee optimum functionality. In terms of material quality, CERAMIN Tiles are not only convincing because they are free of harmful substances, but also because they are robust and durable for up to 20 years, thus ensuring a long life cycle. The surfaces are designed with attention to detail and a sophisticated digital printing process that allows a variety of individual designs. The CERAMIN ® Tiles therefore score points in terms of design not only because of their ultra-light weight, but also because of their unmistakable appearance. At the same time, digitalization has naturally found its way into product development, creating real added value. However, one of the most important aspects in the development of the material CERAMIN® was and is sustainability. The use of recycled materials, the absence of PVC, the complete recyclability, the product's service life, the climate-friendly production, as well as the transparent supply chain, which places particular emphasis on suppliers from Germany and Europe - all this makes CERAMIN® Tiles a sustainable, consumer-friendly product that also fully meets the demands of Neo Ecology.
The CERAMIN® Tiles can be seen not only at the CLASSEN Group stand (Hall 1.2, Stand B021), but also together with the other award-winning products during interzum (May 9-12) in a separate exhibition in the trade fair boulevard and in the online exhibition at www.interzum.com.
